In this video, we follow along with Naouri Redouane as he creates this fantasy village scene using Photoshop and Photo Stocks in this speed art video.
Red (as he is affectionately known by the team) is a master craftsman when it comes to any type of scenery, but where he really excels is with landscapes. If you're having trouble following long just remember that YouTube allows you to slow down the videos by pressing on the cog and selecting play speed.
All through this video, you'll see Red employ various selection techniques, marquee selection being his main one but he also makes use of alpha channels along the way. Working with Photoshop isn't a square peg in a square hole situation. As you’ll see when Red has an asset that he wants to use but it's not quite right here will alter the perspective to fit his vision.
You’ll see a HUE and SATURATION adjustment layer placed on the top to desaturate the whole image. Red does this so he can use curve adjustment layers, attached as clipping masks to bring each asset up to the value that he wants it at. Getting everything to match in the scene is such an arduous task at times but watching the way Red work makes it look easy. He’ll make use of multiple adjustment layers for each asset, hue and saturation, colour balance; curves and sometimes multiples of each until each image looks like it’s always been that way. He adds in some fog layers to give the illusion of depth and lighting to make the scene appear lived in.
Last major edition is the model and all the adjustments and lighting attached to her to place her in the scene rather than just on it. Don’t forget her shadow too. When it comes to photomanipulation there’s really no limit to what Redouane is able to create.
